Toyota and Lexus are honored to be Presenting Sponsors of the Environmental Media Awards. It was a star-studded event that recognized the creative teams behind television, film and music production that incites public awareness by showcasing relevant environmental issues.Dan Ogilvie, Senior Vice-President and Chief Environmental Officer of Toyota Motor Sales, USA in his speech said--- “Entertainment is a potent vehicle for raising awareness of environmental issues. The creative teams who are honored with an Environmental Media Award are inspiring people to think and act in ways that benefit our planet."The celebrities and programs honored during the event are as follows: for the celebrity division honorees include Daryl Hannah, Edward Norton and Cameron Diaz while for the programs the list includes Grey’s Anatomy, The Simpsons, and Disney’s Lilo & Stitch.Toyota and Lexus together offer five hybrid models in the United States covering various segments namely mid-sized sedan, SUV and sports car. But overall it’s the Toyota hybrid vehicles that have saved over 150 million gallons of gas in the US and at the same time lessened harmful gas emissions by almost 3 million pounds.Toyota’s Prius lead the hybrid sales not only in the US but all over the world with its 500,000 sales last April. And for this year alone it is expected to sell more than 100,000 Prius in the US. "Worldwide, Toyota plans to offer hybrid engines in many of our products and we've set a goal of one million hybrids by 2010," said Dian Ogilvie.
